What is a drug offense?

There are a variety of drug offenses, which may range from simple possession, possession for the purposes of trafficking, importation, exportation and production.

The Controlled Drugs and Substances Act lists which drugs are illegal in Canada. The Prosecution must provide the defense with a certificate to prove that the substance in question is in fact illegal. It is incumbent on your representation to analyze this certificate and verify the quantity as well as the particular substance in question.

A conviction under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act is a criminal record which could have serious consequences.
